Elected parent rep, OB 1985-89
Marris and Grey 1985-89 Bachelor of Commerce and Physical Education Jason is an elected parent representative on the Whanganui Collegiate School Board of Trustees and serves on the joint Finance and Risk Sub-Committee for both boards, Property & Development and Risk Joint Board Committees. Jason has over 25 years’ experience within the technology sector working in and leading IT transformation programmes. Jason is a WCS Old Boy, married to Simone with two girls who have been full boarders at Whanganui Collegiate School.

Helen joined the board in 2023 and is a former parent.  She serves on the Finance Property and Remuneration Committees.  Helen is a chartered accountant with over 25 years’ experience in both commercial and private practice. Helen is married to a WCS Old Boy, Ted Jones and they have two children.  She spends her weekends following her children’s sports and playing golf.

STG OG 1991-92, Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (Management, Commercial Law) and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), current parent of a daughter in Bishops House.
As the then-Chair of the St George’s Committee, Kirsty joined the Whanganui College Board of Trustees in 2022. She serves on the Remuneration and Employment Matters Committee.
Kirsty is an HR Manager with significant experience spanning central and local government, the private sector, higher education and consultancy.   Outside work and chauffeuring duties, Kirsty enjoys travelling, renovation projects, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

Adrian joined the Board in May 2024 and serves on the Property subcommittee.
Adrian was General Manger Property for Woolworths New Zealand for twenty years and retired from that position in June 2019.
He spent 40 years as a Property Professional with strong executive Leadership, strategic and financial planning with a focus on implementation and delivery and Innovative problem resolution.
He was appointed an Independent Director of Investor Property Ltd ,a Publicly listed Company ,in June 2020 with experience in Governance, Audit and Risk, Compliance and Health and Safety.
Adrian and his partner Jules live in Auckland and are both keen on outdoors physical activity including cycling, mountain biking, hiking and skiing.

Naomi joined the Board in 2023 and is a proud Old Girl of WCS. She has worked in alumni and development for the past fifteen years and is Director, Alumni and Development at Lincoln University.
She has a strong background in educational advancement, and is a Fellow of Educate Plus, an Australasian membership organisation for advancement and development professionals.
Outside of work Naomi enjoys sailing and spending time with family and friends.

Empson 1988 – 1989 Bachelor of Commerce and Administration – Major in Finance (Victoria) Angus is an elected parent representative on the Whanganui Collegiate School Board of Trustees and an appointed member of the Whanganui College Board of Trustees (The Proprietor). He serves on the joint Finance Sub-Committee for both boards. Angus has worked in the financial services industry for 30 years, and in his current role as an advisor with Jarden, since 2004. Angus is a WCS Old Boy (Empson 1988-89) and a current parent with a son in his fifth year in Selwyn.

Selwyn 1971-1975, current Chairman of the WCS Foundation. Brodie joined the board in March 2023. He was a previous trustee from 2010-2014 serving as Chairman 2012-2014. Brodie recently retired from his role as Country Manager for Swire Shipping NZ. He is an independent director of the Port of Tauranga, Eastland Infrastructure, NZ Post, chairman of Chatham Island Shipping and a chairman of the Maritime Superannuation Scheme. Married to Fiona with three adult daughters and lives in Auckland.

Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Commerce (Otago), Post Grad Diploma in Dairy Science & Technology (Massey). Rhys is an elected parent
representative on the Whanganui Collegiate School Board of Trustees and serves on the joint Risk Committee. He has over 25 years’ experience in technical and commercial leadership roles in the dairy, pharmaceutical and biotech industries, based in the Manawatu. Rhys is a WCS Old Boy (Porritt 1989-93) and has had three daughters attend WCS as boarders in Godwin House (2015- Current).

Sara is an elected member of the Whanganui Collegiate School Board of Trustees and serves on the Health and Safety and Disciplinary Committees.
Sara has over 30 years experienced withing the Secondary Agriculture sector working global and national firms as Executive and or Director within the Cold storage, Transport and Petfood Industries during this time.
Sara is married to Blair Ross an Old Boy of the School and has two boys and two girls who have or are at WCS.

Chris is an appointed parent member of the Whanganui Collegiate School Board of Trustees.
Chris has 30 years’ experience in the Iwi Development sector currently leading Taiao (Environmental) Management for Te Runanga o Nga Wairiki Ngati Apa in the Rangitikei. Chris also has many years’ experience in governance roles across land development and community development sectors in the Whanganui and Rangitikei areas.
Chris is affiliated to Atihaunui a Paparangi, Nga Wairiki Ngati Apa, Ngati Hauiti and Mokai Patea Iwi.
Chris is a WCS Old Boy, married to Deanne with two children as past and present students at Whanganui Collegiate School.
Headmaster
BEd, MEdAdmin, Exec Lead Oxon, GAICD, FACELWayne Brown was appointed Headmaster of Whanganui Collegiate School in 2018. Wayne has held boarding, and senior educational positions in the UK and Australia, along with serving as a trustee on several NFP boards in the last 10 years and is currently Chair of the Central North Island (CNI) Rugby.
Wayne has extensive knowledge, understanding, experience and passion for education, in particular boarding schools, building good young men and women to be inspiring role models within a global community. Â Wayne has also had a career in professional sport, both as a player and coach in basketball, notably, being Assistant Coach with the NZ Breakers in the professional Australian National Basketball League, 2003-2006.Â
A graduate of the Saïd Business School, Oxford University, where he studied Executive Leadership, Wayne has been recognised as a futurist thinker in character education and has been asked to speak at several conferences across NZ, and overseas.Â
Deputy Headmaster
BEd TchgMrs Tash Bullock, our Deputy Headmaster is an inspiring leader with a long-standing commitment to fostering student and staff success. Joining our school in 2019, Mrs Bullock has continually advanced excellence in professional learning and development for teachers, and success in learning for our students, making her an invaluable asset to our community. Mrs Bullock understands the intrinsic nature and mutual importance of the teacher/student relationship and works to optimise this at Whanganui Collegiate School.
Mrs Bullock’s journey at Whanganui Collegiate School reflects her expertise and dedication in various leadership roles, including continuing to serve as Senior Master – Teaching and Learning, achieving accreditation as a Growth Coach with Growth Coaching International in 2023, leading as Head of Staff Development from 2021 to 2022, as Specialist Classroom Teacher from 2019 to 2021 and continues to teach English.
Her influence extends into critical areas such as staff development and curriculum leadership, where she has played a key role in implementing the Cambridge International curriculum at Year 11. Her exceptional leadership as Deputy Headmaster guides Whanganui Collegiate School into continued growth, providing students with an environment that nurtures achievement, resilience, and character.
