Athletics is a core sport in that all our sports have running, jumping and throwing as vital elements. The School has a proud tradition in Athletics and is fortunate to have a supportive local Athletics Club giving access to the all-weather training facilities at Cooks Gardens.
 

WCS Athletics School of Excellence

Many schools run sports academies.  A ‘School of Excellence’ is not an Academy. The WCS Athletic School of Excellence has major differences:

• All 60+ members in the existing Track and Field Elite Squads (TFES) and school teams (TFS) are part of the ‘School of Excellence’
• All athletes in the Squads receive coaching appropriate to their development level
• Membership of TFES has certain privileges but also carries responsibilities.
• Medalists and finalists are rewarded with training grants which are credited back to the athlete’s School account.
• The Training Grants are generously supported by the WCS Foundation.
