Motto, Song, Prayer & Haka

"Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum" was adopted by Headmaster Empson as the School motto in 1889 and translates as "Never a Footstep Back"

The School Song

Five hundred throats take up the strain
And sing the school we know,
Tell over the mighty deeds again
And the fights of long ago;

Of the match that was won
with the sinking sun,
Of the goal from the place kick true,
Of all who have wrought
and served and fought
For the sake of the Black and Blue.

The School Prayer

E te Atua
Kaha Rawa
Amine.

Almighty God, by whose grace this School was founded;
Grant us such humanity that we may be strong in faith,
diligent in study, and honourable and charitable to all people;
To the glory of your name;through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

The Grace / Karakia

Kia tau ki a tātou katoa
Te atawhai o tō tātou Ariki, a Ihu Karaiti
Me te aroha o te Atua
Me te whiwhinga tahitanga
Ki te wairua tapu
Ake, ake, ake
Amine

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with you all
Forever and ever
Amen

The School Haka
(Composer: Morvin Simon)

Ka ripia mai, ko te tau o te ate,
mo ratou ra, kua riro atu ra.
Na ratou ko tatou e tu iho nei
(Kaea) tu ana
(Katoa) tu iho nei,
Aue, aue, aue, Hi!
(Kaea) He aha te kaupapa o te kura nei?
(Katoa) E, he mea tuku iho mai ra ano
ahakoa pehea te nui o nga mahi,
“kaua rawa e hoki whakamuri”
otira, tirohia ki nga rangi,
e heke mai nei,
kia puawaitia ki runga
Aue, aue, aue, Hi!
